"That win for Octavia Spencer is what the Oscars is all about," says Crystal, who is not at this moment wearing blackface, and then makes a joke about how he wanted to hug the first black person he saw after he saw The Help and was in an area where there were no black people.

RT @SmartBitches: "That moment with Octavia was what the Oscars is all about." Good thing you rushed her offstage so you could come on and make racist jokes.

LOL ENDLESS FOCUS GROUP FOR THE WIZARD OF OZ SKIT WITH THE CHRISTOPHER GUEST REPERTORY TROUPE. "I didn't get the thing with the kids." "The munchkins? Those... those weren't actually kids." I hate all of you. Seriously, all of you. Catherine O'Hara, you are on notice.

Please welcome! An end to our misery! Tina Fey with a giant updo and Bradley Cooper! Ridley Scott said that editing is like a marriage! Fey: "And just like a marriage, [the director and editor] sit in a dark windowless room, order in food, and look at pictures of other people."

Film Editing

"The Artist" Anne-Sophie Bion and Michel Hazanavicius
    "The Descendants" Kevin Tent
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall
    "Hugo" Thelma Schoonmaker
    "Moneyball" Christopher Tellefsen

I'm just going to groove to the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo music while HOLY FUCK, IT WON!

@christylemire: Woo hoo! Dragon Tattoo wins for film editing. The title sequence alone deserved it. #Oscars

@cleolinda: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The winners are speechless, and David Fincher could not be here, and Rooney Mara looks fab in white. They laugh and say, "Hey, let's get out of here." "Yeah!"

@ropeofsilicon: Hugo wins Best Sound Editing: http://goo.gl/MBIJC #Oscars

The weird thing is that this appeared before they actually said this on TV.

Sound Editing

"Drive" Lon Bender and Victor Ray Ennis
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Ren Klyce
"Hugo" Philip Stockton and Eugene Gearty
"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Ethan Van der Ryn and Erik Aadahl
"War Horse" Richard Hymns and Gary Rydstrom

"Hugo!" "No, Hugo!" Oh, PUNS. "I'd like to thank everyone who has been born or will born or may be born or may be born again..." AMAZING.

More rushing! Still Fey and Cooper! I can't wait to see the skit they're making room for!

Sound Mixing

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"
David Parker, Michael Semanick, Ren Klyce and Bo Persson
    "Hugo"
    Tom Fleischman and John Midgley

These acrobats make me suicidal, and clearly Stacie Kiebler's face agrees with me.

Re: cirque de makeitstop

It just reminds me that, next year, I do need to wait 30 minutes and then start watching the Oscars.

Aw, I liked the Christopher Guest bit. But I will always have a huge soft spot for him given my mother's unwise decision to take me to see Best In Show when I was 10.

So do we think that this Cirque Du Soleil thing will make everyone for get the interpretive Crash dance?

I thought Hugh Jackman's interpretive dance made everyone forget that?

What is going on? I really don't . . . Oh Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. Her dress is pretty.

Does Robert Downey Jr basically act like Tony Stark all the time now? Is that expected?

To be fair I'm pretty sure Robert Downey Jr acted like Tony Stark before he was Tony Stark.

This. When he was first cast as Tony Stark everybody was like, "Ohhhhhh, right. Of course."

"The role he's been training for all his life."

Well, that's what made it so amusing when he was first cast and then it stayed fun because it was apparent that he wasn't that person anymore in real life...

So now, we know he's not that in real life anymore and it's kind of weird...I think they should have been introduced as their characters.

It does seem somewhat like they've both fallen into their Method a bit too deeply, perhaps.

I must have no sense of humor. I HATED the Downey/Paltrow bit.

No, that would be BECAUSE you have a sense of humor. At least Downey was trying, bless his heart.

I wasn't really a fan either. I miss Jude Law and the Holmes/Watson bit from last year.

Also, Brave trailer! I really want to see that.

That was so exciting! Can't wait for that!

Rango was weird, but I'm glad it won. I still can't believe Puss in Boots got nominated and Tintin didn't. I guess I shouldn't judge since I haven't seen either, but still. Sequels.

The whole "I'd like to thank everyone who was ever born" is kind of how I've always imagined my hypothetical Oscar speech would go because I'd be so nervous about leaving people out.
