SDCC, where a lot of things happened and I wasn't there
katniss
cleolinda
(I'm pretty good with watching it all come in over the wire from my air-conditioned bedroom, though.)

This is by no means exhaustive, because if I wasn't around on Twitter at the time or wasn't interested, it would have slipped past me. At this point, I would just say go browse Social Nerd Art's archive or SDCC tag, or The Mary Sue's tag, if there's something you're interested in.

FIRST OF ALL:

@ropeofsilicon: Caesar Approaches in First Official Picture from 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'

@RealHughJackman: I hope all of these people like The Wolverine. Here we go. #wolverine pic.twitter.com/o6bwa4xXdT

@screenrant: Footage featured an F-Bomb and Wolverine pulling a sword out of chest. And about a hundred ninja warriors.

@screenrant: "I don't want to be responsible for taking down Iron Man," says Hugh Jackman. He really loves the idea of Avengers crossovers.

Video: the Wolverine panel, "aka where we find out that Hugh Jackman can dress up as himself and wander SDCC and survive (and have at least one fan critique the quality of his copy of … himself)."

@girlsreadcomics: Jackman walked around SDCC in full Wolverine costume this morning. Only two people stopped him.

@ElisabethRappe: Hugh Jackman cosplaying as Wolverine is adorable. His receiving nothing but criticism doesn't surprise me at all.

@comingsoonnet: The X-Men: Days of Future Past panel starts!

@cinemablend: See The Entire Cast Of X-Men: Days Of Future Past Onstage At Comic-Con

@io9: First X-Men: Days of Future Past footage gave us goosebumps

@EricVespe: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are getting the biggest cheers of the Con so far. Yay for geeks.

@screenrant: Each cast member is getting one quick question. McAvoy is wearing X-Men t-shirt with Nightcrawler on it.

@screenrant: Bryan Singer says no Deadpool in X-Men: Days of Future Past but anything's possible in the future.

Marvel - Guardians of the Galaxy:

I have no idea what any of this is about, except that I have heard something about a raccoon, but it seems like it's going to be A Thing, so.

@cinemablend: Watch The Guardians Of The Galaxy Comic-Con Panel, Complete With Karen Gillan's Bald Head

@adambvary: Karen Gillan reveals she shaved off all her hair to play Nebula, and throws her wig into the crowd.

(As seen here.)

@HitFixDaniel: I'm not sure I've understood a word on my twitter feed other than "Karen Gillan bald" for an hour.

@screenrant: "He's a very complicated Kree. He's a beast." - Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser. Teases that they're going to show his image.

@screenrant: "I've been blue once, why not try green." - Zoe Saldana on Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy

I don't think we know yet who's playing the raccoon, though. Maybe Vin Diesel.

AND THEN, THIS HAPPENED.

@screenrant: Fans chanting "Loki, Loki, Loki!"

@screenrant: Tom Hiddleston as Loki: "Where are your Avengers now?"

@mikeryan: Here's Tom Hiddleston dressed as Loki on stage at hall h. pic.twitter.com/GAToPoUmDn

@AgentM: "Claim loyalty to me. And I will give you what you need." - @twhiddleston

@EGeekly: Loki has a new army of 6500+ #HallH pic.twitter.com/ENXx20v67k

Watch Tom Hiddleston As Loki Ruling Over The Comic-Con Crowd: "Seriously, it's kind of wild watching in this video the kind of hold he has over the audience. Apparently he was also instructing the audience to "say my name," and they complied-- proving that if Loki ever did arrive from Asgard to take over Earth, and he was as charming as Tom Hiddleston, we'd all be totally screwed."

Personally, my favorite part is when he puts his finger to his lips in a hall of 6500 people and gets instant silence. That, and "MY WIFE LOVES YOU!!!!"

umbrafishies said: One youtube comment for this says “STANDING OVULATION". You’re welcome.

I haven't seen what happened at the Nerd HQ meetup today, except that it seems that raptor impressions were involved. (Wait, breaking news, here's the video.)

@io9: Watch Comic-Con's Marvel Cinematic Universe panel in all its glory. "Are you interested in Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, Tom Hiddleston in character and costume as Loki, Karen Gillan removing her wig, or any of the other insanity that happened at last night's Marvel movie panel? Then you probably want to actually watch it. "

@io9: Marvel movie panel nearly destroyed us with glorious madness.

@cinemablend: Eric & Sean Break Down The Thor, Captain America, And Guardians Of The Galaxy Comic-Con Footage

@comingsoonnet: Comic-Con: Thor: The Dark World & Captain America: The Winter Soldier Panel Live Blog

Oh, one more thing:

@screenrant: Fans lost it when Ultron's face was shown. The Avengers: Age of Ultron is the title of The Avengers 2.

@devincf: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. 2015. I literally yelled out loud when they showed Ultron's head.

@io9: Joss Whedon: No, You Don't Need Hank Pym to Have Ultron

@empiremagazine: Also had a chat with Kevin Feige about Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The title is 'borrowed' from the comic, but bears no relation to that arc.

I have no idea what any of this means, so... cool.

@ChitauriSteve: I have an audition for the role of Ultron. Wish me luck.

Fee free to chip in with anything you've seen around; that's about all the link wrangling I can manage for one day.

Here's a funny video for any HIMYM fans who think his kids would be fed up by now.

If anyone wants my recollections for panels other than Hannibal, I can try and dredge up memories. Notable ones I was at were "Music for Superhero Films", the Dreamworks panel, the panel/pilot for "The Blacklist" starring James Spader, Geek and Sundry, HIMYM, Supernatural, Breaking Bad, Doctor Who, and Community.

JUST TRYING TO HELP OUT MY FELLOW NERDS.

How was the Dreamworks panel? Anything for Me and My Shadow?

God, so torn on Catching Fire. On the one hand, the first book was the only one that I found tolerable and I just hated them progressively more from there. But on the other, my god the first movie was jawdropping.

I think I marathoned all three books in one long night, so they're all kind of a blur to me? I don't really have a sense of one being different from another so much as "omg Mockingjay nooooooo." Other than a little overuse of the shakycam in scenes that didn't actually need it (walking down the hall omg!), I loved the first movie, yeah.

The Clark Gregg link is broken. *sads*

Of COURSE something was going to end up borked. It should be this:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/07/20/agents-of-shield-comic-con/

Tom Hiddleston... *purrs*

The trailer for Catching Fire looks good. :)

Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser.

I saw a group photo of the cast on IMDB (including bald Karen Gillan) and can't help but notice that Lee is taller than Dave Bautista... and also, Lee looks a little more buffed out, wider across the shoulders.

I'm not as familiar with Guardians as I could be, but... the first comics I ever bought personally (I was eleven) was a four issue series called Rocket Raccoon: a funny animal meets science fiction thing set against the backdrop of a war between rival toy companies (no, really). They seem to have gone a little darker with him for Guardians, though.

Every time that one Hobbit gifset featuring Lee Pace drifts across my tumblr dash, I actually have to stop and stare at it for at least 5 iterations.

I just want to say, thank you for getting these links because everything is relevant to my interests (and I wouldn't know where to find these myself!).

Hee, most welcome. Honestly, this is just some of the stuff that came across my timeline/dash in the course of a normal day, because I follow so many movie news feeds and a few fandom tumblrs; I just grabbed what looked interesting while I happened to be around. There's tons of stuff from Thursday and Friday that I didn't grab at all, but I was trying to keep an eye on the Hannibal stuff (and, uh, get actual stuff done) at that point.

@empiremagazine: Also had a chat with Kevin Feige about Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The title is 'borrowed' from the comic, but bears no relation to that arc.

I have no idea what any of this means, so... cool.

Age of Ultron is also a current ongoing comic. Well, I think it is. Technically my local comics purveyor has it on my pull list along with a bunch of other things I can never remember what they are (every time I visit: "Uh... X-Files #2? I think? I don't know what I get.)

It's got Wolverine and other X-men in though. And some of the Fantastic Four. And Spiderman. So...I don't think it's possible for them to do that story as it stands because of how the properties are distributed.

Edited at 2013-07-22 02:37 pm (UTC)

Yeah--I mean, I could have easily looked up "Age of Ultron" on Wikipedia, which is what I did when it became apparent that they were using the "Extremis" storyline for Iron Man 3 (and I didn't know what that was either). But throwing in "but we're not actually using the arc" kind of left me not sure what any of it was supposed to mean.

THAT was one impressive linkspam! Good work and thank you!

Thanks! Honestly, it could have been twice as long, but I was just not going back to all the stuff on Thursday and Friday or getting too in-depth with things I don't really watch or follow. I figured Hunger Games, X-Men, and Loki shenanigans would be most relevant to our mutual interests.

I saw the link, Eric & Sean Break Down the Thor... and thought, Bana? Bean? OMG, no! That's Troy!

I might have been in fandom too long. *facepalms*

"son of a bitch we just got neville longbottomed by a goddamed cartoon"

OH THANK GOD I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE

Re: "son of a bitch we just got neville longbottomed by a goddamed cartoon"

You either?

The Catching Fire trailer looks awesome. Someone actually argued with me on Facebook that the trailer was not faithful to the book, but the only detail he could point out was the grafitti, and the Quarter Quell card. I had to argue that for all anyone knows, the Quarter Quell rule was as planned, we just didn't hear about it because the book's from the point of view of Katniss, and she wouldn't have that information.
The one thing I'm looking for, and can't yet find, is the Warcraft movie trailer. I'm sure that Blizzard will put it up eventually, but I'm dying to see it.

Love love LOVE the Catching Fire trailer and the Loki apperance. I exploded with squee.

(Deleted comment)
Oh yes, please that would be my personal dream. We need more Loki on screen.

Of all the things he did, that is the moment where I went "holy shit." Like, they started chanting his name before he even asked them to, whatever--THAT was actual wizard-powers.
