(so, yeah, Italian leather is a thing that's happening)

(Please note that we're back on Thursdays again)

(P.S. Zachary Quinto is going to play THE PATIENT)

So I am trying to make this the occasion of my return to recapping. "Mukozuke" creeps ever closer to being done. Pray for me; times is hard.

(That said, Kristen may have a Murder Sparkle surprise soon.)

Speaking of Aromaleigh, because I can never resist a good segue, I'm in the middle of Blade Runner/More Human Than Human robot eyeshadow inspiration posts. Tomorrow will be the Incept Date color, I think. We also announced that we're developing Twin Peaks eyeshadow, although I'm not sure when that collection would come out and I remain hellishly behind on the pilot recap. Also, there are new Asteriai star nymph and Galactic duochrome collections that I didn't even have anything to do with; I am pretty sure that Kristen never sleeps.

More cheerfully than it would have been last week: My sister had a serious emergency surgery (I'm being vague on purpose, not my health issues to talk about, etc.) at the end of February, but she's doing much better now. Still recovering, but I think this past Thursday or so was the first day she seemed like herself again.

A couple of weeks before that, I had a Sudden Dental Panic that turned out to just be "stop clenching your jaw." This was, therefore, the Best Dentist Visit Ever. I promptly went home, slipped on a sweetgum tree-ball, fell down the deck steps, and twisted my ankle. Except that it still hurts (but only sometimes, at some angles) a month later, but more the top of my foot than my ankle, and I think maybe I have a hairline fracture. Which... there's not much to do about that but stay off it (which I have not been able to do) and wear a Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer (CVS, $12).

I have started trying to get the ball rolling and the money saving for Dragon Con 2015, but I'm also concerned that at some point in the next six months I'll just be standing around somewhere and spontaneously fall down and break the other foot. However, I live in hope.

Also, I have a fantasy short story set in the War of the Seasons universe, through the latest Silence in the Library Kickstarter, with art by Dawn Murphy.

Also-also, foresthouse and I just did our first solo episode of Made of Fail, in which, among other things, I try to explain Jupiter Ascending to her (1:29:00ish) over the course of about seven minutes. That said, we do start off by discussing my haunted teeth.

I think that's about it for now, though.

Aw, thanks. I really feel like I need to screen this for the flashing gif, though--I don't even have seizures and it's kind of getting to me.

It's always a pleasant surprise to see an update from your journal, even if it's just to hear that you're well, some Hannibal news and new eyeshadows. Hope all is well with your sister and that your ankle does better- once it's healed, you should work on balance stuff- standing on one foot on a pillow with your eyes closed, that sort of thing- to make sure it heals properly, ankle injuries are a bitch and the damage to the tendons doesn't get reversed. I don't live in The States so I've never been to a Con, but it sounds cool so I hope you get to go.

Oh no, it doesn't get reversed? That's... dismaying.

Yay for Cleo-ness! Put up your foot and binge away!

Thanks! Now that it's March, maybe I get to come out of the SAD Cave.

Best wishes to your sister, if she accepts best wishes from complete strangers. And to you as well, of course.

I'm happy that we finally have the premiere date, but not really happy about June, because it's my birthmonth, and I'm worried they'll kill some character I like exactly the day before.

There are Season 2 scripts online. I'm still not sure how legal is it for fans to read them and link to them - they're on site but aren't visible. I read them anyway, so did half of Tumblr. Now I have A Lot Of Feelings about Freddie, Alana, Margot, that damn cannibal with a crush and... just generally about all the things that didn't end up onscreen. Still feel like someone should ask DLC or Fuller if it's okay for us to read them, though.

I saw! I have acquired them all and I guess will read each one as I recap. I'm not linking to them, but I figured they were just keeping them quiet until S2 had finished airing everywhere (didn't it just start in Italy last month?). Apparently they've been there since September?

"I'm terrible at catch-up entries"

You're not terrible, Cleo, it's just downright frustrating for me as one of the Wretches who don't have (or rather, can't have because of Interweb blockage) Twitter and can only stare at my Livejournal every day and see who'd blink first. Do please try and do more of this kind of catch-up lj posts, Cleo, even if they end up being the length of actual tweets, I desperately need somewhere to bounce off thoughts, ideas and feelings to you, and it would be stupid and creepy if I do that on old entries of yours that are sometimes months old.

Fingers crossed and Godspeed ahead, Cleo. I would gripe some more, but I've been translating a Chinese Harry Potter fanfiction to English since June 2010, it's only twenty-seven chapters long and so far I'd only made it to Chapter XX. xD I've no leg to stand on where I could call someone else slow on chapter-length updates, and yours is original content to boot.

Well that's a relief, good to hear that everything is ok with your sister now!

re: teeth

When I listened to the MoF podcast, that part made me crack out in the middle of the street. :-)
You can actually try clicking your teeth together at a steady rhythm (not too hard, of course, just strongly enough to hear the knocking sounds in your head), its an old Chinese remedy that helps strengthen the gums and improve the altogether dental hygiene.

I loved that episode very much, except the part where Emily started tearing apart Man of Steel. :-/ I sent an email over to the madeoffailpod mailbox, did you guys get it? As usual with my attempts at fanmail, I'm much more worried that you'd somehow never got it, never mind being nervous about how you'd reply.

All in all, it's great to hear from you, Cleo!!!

Re: "I'm terrible at catch-up entries"

I'm still learning the MOF ropes, so I had to ask Dayna just now about the email account. Side note--I don't know how we're going to do fan mail; I'd kind of like to do a segment the way Kevin and Dayna used to do way early on and discuss mail on air. The thing is, I think they eventually abandoned it because reading entire emails on air took too much time, but I feel like we could just summarize or quote a key sentence or two and have a discussion in response without capsizing the entire episode. But Emily and I haven't talked about that yet, so we'll see.

I've been meaning to ask who is 'The Patient' and why is he a big deal?

(Spoilers for both the show and for SotL)

.

You're still here for it? Well, in Silence of the Lambs the guy in the cell next to Hannibal sexually assaulted Clarice on her way out (keywords: fluid flick), and later Crawford called Clarice to tell her that Miggs was dead because Hannibal whispered to him all afternoon until he swallowed his own tongue (I've always interpreted this as "chew off tongue and then bleed to death", though). Since the time when the novel came out, this has been a significant part of Hannibal Lecter lore. Now, if you may recall in season one, Bedelia was only in her forties or fifties, but she's already retired due to her own trauma after A Patient attacked her. Later in episode 12 when Jack first met her, her Official Statement was revealed to be that this violent, crazy patient attacked her but then died by swallowing his own tongue.

...was that a thunderclap I heard? D:

Then in season two we learn that Bedelia really killed The Patient herself! But what kind of part did Hannibal still play in this clusterfuck situation? Looks like we're finally gonna find out.

Best wishes to Sister Girl, and to you. Glad to hear that recovery is happening.

Crazy thing: Fandom Best Friend and I were just talking a couple weeks ago about a big complicated Heroes AU fic we had halfway plotted back when the show was new, and I was looking through our old notes and commented to him that our Sylar reminded me a lot of this Hannibal in some ways. And then this.

Cleo, I have vague memories of you expressing a fondness for The Last Unicorn at some point, so I wanted to make sure you were aware of The Last Unicorn Tour (www.lastunicorntour.com). Peter S. Beagle is going around the world and doing theatrical screenings of the movie, along with signing sessions and Q&A time. It looks like they're planning to be in Alabama in September, though there are no more concrete details than that yet.

Well, you know, Bryan Fuller wrote for the first season of Heroes, which may have something to do with that.

(Oooh, I will have to look into the tour thing if it's actually coming here.)

I have some feelings about Hannibal in the leather on a bike with hair a bit unkempt. Very decided feelings.

I started laughing so hard when I saw that THAT was the promo graphic they're throwing to their frantic hiatus-crazed fandom. Like. I SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING, GUYS.

P.S. Top of https://storify.com/cleolinda/hannibal-hiatus-november-2014

I never saw Twin Peaks until this year, and I literally watched one (1) episode and ran to reproduce Joan Chen's eye makeup as best as I was able, sooo GOOD NEWS FOR ME.

I was fixated on Shelly's peach eyeshadow and lipstick for a while, I tell you what.

I have this habit of clenching my teeth when I'm sleeping, so I bought a mouth guard and it helps some. It takes some time getting used to, however, but I figure it's better than having messed up teeth due to jaw-clenching and whatnot.

Sorry to hear of your injury. I remember breaking my leg when I was in 8th grade and it wasn't fun. Now when the weather changes, my ankle is the first to tell me...

Always nice to see you post! Ugh, I'm not a podcast girl, but I might have to listen to yours. Especially for the Jupiter Ascending bit. I loved that movie with a pure and cheesy love.

Trust me, this episode is glorious. The part with Emily talking about MoS bummed me a lot 'cause I really liked that film, but the Jupiter part more than made up for it. Cleo really relishes in describing the wackadoo. xD

Hi, I've been reading you're lj for years and never commented. Just wanted to say that I loved the Made of Fail episode! As always, you are the best at updating me about Hannibal. :) Also, I loved all the linkspam for the episode (especially learning that E.L. James behaves like a wanktastic hybrid of Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer on set, that made me cackle). The article about how we are going to "miss almost everything" was great, too.

Belated comment to say thanks for listening to Made of Fail! :)

I'm jumping into this a month late (because I am bad at Livejournal and also my life exploded) to say that, despite being on a motorcycle, and wearing leather, and being in Italy, Hannibal just looks terribly, terribly bored.

"Hannibal looks terribly, terribly bored."

Maybe it's because his Murder Husband's not sitting behind on the passenger's seat?

~*~

Don't feel too awful about being bad at Livejournal. I have Cleo set on email alert, and it failed me three times in a row (including her latest update). I get all my other alerts when other people update, except her. >:-(
