I don't know if I can do DH myself--I mean, really, I just recap TV for fun, and as quickly as possible to preserve that jump-on-the-phone-and-call-your-friend loopiness of "And then! And then! AND THEN!" Actual, lengthy, accurate recaps are TWOP's thing, not mine.
But in case you're wondering, I'll talk about the show a little. I think ABC made a mistake with the sex-focused commercials--I know, you're thinking, "How is that ever a mistake?" But really, they made them look like Letters to Penthouse: The Series (Desperate housewife jumps plumber! And teenage gardener! And cable guy! Can't you see how DESPERATE TO DO THE SEX THEY ARE?), and that's a huge turn-off to precisely the audience they should go after: women. Because it's women who will identify with the characters.
It's a weird little show, too--sort of like a light American Beauty meets Stepford Wives, with a little Twin Peaks thrown in. (Of course, everything "quirky" these days owes something to Twin Peaks.) Basically, it's narrated by one of the housewives--a dead one, who kills herself in the first five minutes, but her family has some Verreh, Verreh Dark Secret involving an "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID" letter and something buried under the pool. Oh, and the plumber that Teri Hatcher and Scary, Scary Nicollette
In conclusion: It's a pretty good show, pretty funny, and worth watching--it's not the show they're trying to sell to you at all.
