"I'm going out to buy a hair dryer," announces my mother. "Be right back."

"Did the old one break?"

"Well, it caught on fire."

"WHAT? WHEN?"

"Just now. Yeah. Six-inch flames shooting out the back. Good thing I was almost done anyway."
