(I still have In Bruges here from Netflix and I haven't watched it yet. Bad me!)
Here's Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. There's some joke about doing coke with Mickey Rourke tonight, so... yeah. I don't know. Haven't Mickey Rourke and his face been through enough?
SCREENPLAY
Simon Beaufoy, "Slumdog Millionaire"
David Hare, "The Reader"
Peter Morgan, "Frost/Nixon"
Eric Roth, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"
John Patrick Shanley, "Doubt"
Simon Beaufoy wins, and I am forcibly reminded that I have pretty much seen nothing interesting in the last three months. I have seriously got to catch up on my Oscarbait. Big cheer when he thanks Danny Boyle, who made his script "fly." Aw.
Amy Poehler and Patrick Dempsey! I would just like to say here that I do not understand the appeal of Patrick Dempsey at all. I mean, he's nice and all, but this whole McDreamy hysteria, I don't get it at all. Anyway!
BEST ACTOR, TV MUSICAL OR COMEDY
Alec Baldwin, "30 Rock"
Steve Carell, "The Office"
Kevin Connolly, "Entourage"
David Duchovny, "Californication"
Tony Shalhoub, "Monk"
Quite honestly, everyone's getting huge cheers for this one. I think they must have cracked open another magnum of champagne during the commercials, I don't know. Alec Baldwin wins; David Duchovny claps politely. "Oh God, I feel so old! I remember when I used to bring Rumer Willis a juice box on the set of a movie!" He thanks Tina Fey profusely; she swats it away over at her table with an aw-shucks kind of look.
Hey, there's Kiefer Sutherland! My mother is busy off watching the Jack Bauer Power Hour, by the way.
