(While we were waiting, Em and I discussed Breaking Dawn, which she had just read for the first time. Appropriate!)
Petty distress: my face is all red and dry and sensitive and itchy (like a sunburn, actually), and I'm not sure why, except that I used a Bare Minerals "Rev-Upper" moisturizer (um. Twice) that was more than a year old, and it might have made my face angry. (Something similar, but less dire, happened when I used a really old sample of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar.) All I know is, it's really unpleasant, and I'm to the point where I'm trying not to touch or wash or think about it at all, if possible. Just slathering on my regular moisturizer and a little apple cider vinegar/water solution (actually a pretty good natural cleanser).
Interestingly, my complexion's the clearest it's been in a long time. Except for, you know. The burning. I'm this close to raiding the pantry for oatmeal to slap on, quite honestly; the aloe plant on the deck should fear for its life. On the upside, I will never need blush again.
New York Comic Con in 90 Seconds; "Real Book" Writers Play a Part at Comic-Con, Too; 2009 NYCC: Tonner Doll Co. Speaking of NYCC (and dolls), here's foresthouse's recap of her own adventures (with photo gallery), including a pilgrimage to aforesaid Tonner booth. What I love is that three different people (including my sister) took pictures of the Dollens, but only in foresthouse's was The Hair on high alert (fangirls must have been imminent).

Via ravenofthejade: Tantrums and tears at Twilight audition: "Tears and arguments broke out Sunday as hundreds of first nations teenagers from all over North America were turned away from a casting call for New Moon, the sequel to last year’s vampiric blockbuster Twilight." To be clear, it was an audition for first nations (or First Nations? What's the capitalization rule on this?) kids, so it was a matter of turning some of them away, not a whitewash situation like The Last Airbender.

Will Cate Blanchett Save 'Nottingham'? God, I hope so. I know she's really too old for a classic Maid Marian, but guess what? I don't care, because I love that character and I love her and this whole thing kind of looks like a trainwreck. At least she'll class up the joint.
