And a very merry Spookymas to you
Yesterday: A new Secret Life of Dolls. By the way, someone asked in the comments when the Cliffhanging Last Line would come to fruition. I had intended it more as Deep Foreshadowing to pay off at a much later date, but once I sat down and thought about it--it doesn't make much sense to put it off that long (in the scheme of things that only I know). So next week, as promised, we will have Shelf Justice, and then the week after that, we will find out what the last line means.

However, for the purposes of the story time frame, we are all going to have to pretend that the U.S. Postal Service has been replaced by the Pony Express, or maybe unusually large carrier pigeons. Actually, given what happened with Tonner Edward, that may not be too much of a stretch.

Meanwhile: you remember snowcoma, who adopted Edward Cat for her mom. She's in medical trouble now too. There are some really wonderful things up for auction for her as well--if you lost out on some of the foresthouseeyes lots, you might consider browsing Grace's as well. So far I'm seeing jewelry, artwork, perfume oils, fiction, scarves, Meyer lemon cuttings, and a signed copy of cupcake_goth's Gothic Charm School book. So you can get a year of postcards from The Littlest Edward (he may want to make his own stationery, I don't know) over on one community, and a year of postcards from Galadriel (filled with clues and predictions) on the other.

Also: Mark has finished Reading Harry Potter, and I have heard that he said in the comments there what his next Read would be. I won't spoil it, but it is something I had considered offering to recap if we managed to raise enough for both of Emily's surgeries. Basically, I wanted to wait and make sure we weren't going recap the same thing at the same time. So: we will see.

Meanwhile-meanwhile: Scary Deathmatch Finals over at snacky's!

Also-also: tonight, I will be celebrating Halloween dressed as a crazy doll lady writing the Secret Life installment-after-next. The hellions down the street will probably do terrible things to our tires. If I am lucky, there will be peanut butter cups. Who else has plans?

OH HOLY SHIT I ALMOST FORGOT. Today is the seventh birthday of this journal! Also that.

Happy 7 years of blogging!

Happy seventh birthday to the blog!

Man, I would love those postcards, but I imagine they will be out of my price range. *sigh*

I live in a college town and since it the middle of midterm season, all the Halloween parties were last night.

I wore a Ravenclaw outfit! It was fantastic.

So that's what I did on my Halloween.

The Edward cards are already up at $260. I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

Every time someone has a costly medical emergency and I watch everyone give so generously, I think, Look, government: it would be way easier to just insure everyone, and it seems like most people are willing to pay a little to help others, why can't you be smarter, government?

Hope everything turns out well for both of them.

I know, right. Yesterday I followed a link from another site to yet another fundraiser, for someone whose insurance company has said they will only pay for three weeks of residential treatment for eating disorders when this young woman needs more like three months. And while I am continually touched by the number of people who are willing to help others in need... I wish it wasn't necessary in the first place.

/steps off soapbox

Happy Anniversary and many more!

What did Mark say he was reading next? I was away for the liveblog and I'm not about to slog through 6,500 comments to find out!

Well, no plans for me today. I had a triple birthday last night and now I wanted to sleep all day but Mark was watching HBP, so I had to get up and haven't really eaten yet and the afternoon is almost over, so I think if I do something today it will be cooking.

Oh, well. Next year perhaps. I just want to go on to have a less sickly year from the one I've had since last Halloween. That's all I feel like wishing for right now.

Your icon is mesmerizingly cute. :)

I don't have any money right now (like... NO money) so I sadly can't donate. I just want to say that it's so fucking sad that we've had to resort to paying for health care by asking for money over the internet.

And then you've got terrible people taking advantage of this sort of thing -- there was an article in the paper here about a woman who claimed on facebook that she had cancer and needed money for chemo. This happened over several years and she scammed her family and friends, raking in at least $20,000. Eventually people figured out that she hadn't lost a bit of weight, still looked healthy, and had contradicted herself about what cancer she had, and asked the cops to look into it. They checked her bank records and she hadn't paid a single doctor's bill. She plead guilty last summer.

Not to say that any of the people Cleo's helping raise money for are con artists -- but just a reminder to be careful.

Woo, 7 years! Long live Livejournal!

My plans for Halloween involve a paranormal detective novel by Juliet Blackwell, a bag of Heath Bars, a bag of mini-Snickers, ginger beer, rum, Indian food, and given all that, Prilosec.

Up with introverts! Who isn't with me?!

Heee! Well I went out yesterday, but today, the most productive thing I did was shower. So...yeah, today, I am (or am not, rather) with you! :P

I'm making a set of eight My Little Ponies based on Series 5 (Seriously, self? Eight? What were you thinking?), and that's going to include two Weeping Angels. No way am I making just one and trusting the other ponies to keep an eye on it; I have to make it a pair so I can keep them pointed at each other.

Tonight we are having a birthday party for my sister-in-law to be, who loves Hallowe'en. Her birthday isn't 'til Nov 2nd, but we couldn't get together then, so we are doing it tonight. There will be tiny spice cupcakes and breakfast food for dinner, so it should be good.

I will definitely check-out snowcoma's auction. All of us our on meds in my family and my dad is currently having a bitch of a time waiting for a doctor's appointment to get his changed, so mental health is important to me. Thanks for being the bulletin board, Cleo. I would never find all this stuff on my own.

Happy birthday journal! A good date to have as an anniversary. Here's to seven more years, on whatever the internets may look like in the Dark Future!

No plans tonight, other than hiding from the 16-year-olds in my neighborhood who think they can put on like, a black t-shirt, and come get candy at my house at 10pm (You are too old and it is too *late*!) Halloween is my favorite holiday, but the weather has been warm so it just doesn't feel right. Still, a bit of roast potato and butternut squash soup will surely give that holiday feeling.

My plans are to get over my sore throat and do my best to eat all the candy we bought for children who won't be coming to my door.

As a Star Wars fan and lapsed Lutheran who has totally done that, your icon makes me lol.

Congrats on seven years! That's amazing.

Happy Birthday to your journal! They grow up so fast.

Later tonight, I will be donning my witch doctor costume (scrubs, stethoscope, witch hat) and partying with some coworkers. Hopefully it'll be fun.
