Some very sad real-world news in the previous entry. Thus, I endeavor to bring you escapism and raptors.

dwg: Should I be breaking out the photoshop to paste a raptor in the background of the Snow White picture? This has now become my knee-jerk reaction to misty blue forests. At the very least, there needs to be some kind of explosion happening to justify my retinas being blinded by that shade of blue. e__e

cleolinda: I would actually really enjoy a raptor, I think.

dwg: This turned out better than expected. Now instead of being "did I leave the gas on?" she's like "hunh, there's nothing to those stories about raptor infested woods..."

So I took it to Twitter.

@cleolinda: Raptors make everything better.

@Queenofthedorks: @cleolinda noo there goes our velociraptor free work place policy. http://img.ly/6wJz we were doing so well too.

Meanwhile: new Made of Fail podcast, Episode Forty-Four: Mischief Managed--the Harry Potter review with Kevin, Rinna, Mark and me, with Dayna in the non-Potter parts, and an extensive report on the North American Discworld convention. (Listening to it again: "Florida is just basically all coast" was a joke, sorry about that. I've been there, I know it's not.)

Speaking of the Made of Fail family, Dayna needs help. To that end, @JK_Woodward: "Have you ever wanted a comic pro to draw you your very own comic page? learn more here."

Report: Spider-Man star Rhys Ifans arrested at Comic-Con: "Ifans, who portrays Dr. Curt Conners a/k/a The Lizard, was on hand among cast and filmmakers yesterday to debut footage in Hall H; apparently, the incident occurred when Ifans “shov[ed] a female security guard” and “insulted U.S.” prior to the panel. Developing… [The Wrap]"

BUT THEN: Sony Denies Report That New 'Spider-Man' Villain Rhys Ifans Arrested At Comic-Con: "It was a minor incident involving a security guard and smoking backstage. Police were called. But I was told Rhys was not arrested and was not handcuffed by the police. I am told he was given a ticket." Ifans then was introduced at the panel as the new Spider-Man villain Lizard. If Sony changes its story to me, I'll let you know but TheCrap is a notoriously inaccurate website. In the meantime I'm sure people will say this reeks of a publicity stunt."

MEANWHILE: Comic Con 2011: Live Blogging The Amazing Spider-Man Panel; The Lizard is revealed, Andrew Garfield (almost) cries, and more highlights of the Spider-Man panel at Comic-Con; SDCC Exclusive: Rhys Ifans on the Lizard in Spider-Man; SDCC: More Details on The Amazing Spider-Man's Lizard; Watch Andrew Garfield read his love letter to Spider-Man at Comic-Con; 'The Amazing Spider-Man' cast on gritty reboot, Dr. Lizard, and cheeseburgers - WATCH OKAY!

@scottEweinberg: "It's how we do it on television!" RT @slashfilm: Lindelof Discusses The Secrecy Of ‘Prometheus.’

Apparently this is how they work. Damon Lindelof: "It's a SECRET." Ridley Scott: "There's TWO androids!" Together, they fight crime.

Breaking Dawn, Cosmopolis & Bel Ami

Bill Condon Talks Breaking Dawn Secrecy and Honeymoon: What Will He Keep From Fans? I like how Movieline gets right down to asking him about, and I quote, "the idea that Bill Condon would want to direct a Twilight movie!"

An unintended result of the Breaking Dawn panel: a look at, and explanation for, what turned out to be Robert Pattinson's spectacularly bad haircut for a scene in Cronenberg's Cosmopolis.

@cleolinda: I like how our joke theory about rampaging fangirls and fleeing a salon was only half wrong.

@fuggirls: I know, right?!

@cleolinda: And if you count the Paul Giamatti stalker character as a fangirl, it might be entirely right.

And then this happened

SDCC Exclusive: Jason Momoa on Conan the Barbarian; @EW: It’s not easy to be a barbarian. Stopping by EW’s VIP lounge at @HardRockSD Jason Momoa.

Yeah... about Jason Momoa. Trigger warning for HOLY SHIT WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. This is what happens when you say you love that fantasy shows let you, as an actor, "rape beautiful women":

“I’ve never been a part of anything remotely close to this,” Momoa says, when asked to compare working on a Sci Fi Channel show to working on an HBO show. He loves that scifi and fantasy shows let you “rip someone’s throat out and rape beautiful women.”

@particle_person: Is that for real?!

@cleolinda: There's a link in the comments to the actual video.

@particle_person: *facepalm* (I like how the other panel ppl were like ACTUAL FACEPALM.)

@cleolinda: I like how every single person is facepalming except Peter Dinklage, who is just straight up "The hell?"

So... that's a downer note. I think we need raptors photoshopped in.

@Colin_Hanks: Oh, one last #ComicCon tweet. To the girl dressed up as a Rockford Peach: I saw you and you are awesome.

Wow. That last link really needs Willie Geist's disapproving glare. (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/willie-geists-disapproving-glare)

You kind of want to shop him in right beside Jason Momoa in the space where you almost can't see Peter Dinklage.

I love Snow White and the Raptors. Brilliant!

"What about the ROUSes?"

"Raptors of unusual size? I don't think they exist."

Raptors do indeed make everything better.

I think Robert Pattison's hair was only on half alert.

JASON MOMOA WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT. Facepalms are appropriate.

WHAT THE HELL JASON MOMOA. I've seen people linking to the panel, but this is the first I've heard about that particular line. Whyyyyyy.

Thank you, Cleo; that Bel Ami trailer was exactly what I needed today.

I love that the article itself is like, "This movie knows who this guy is and who his audience is. ENJOY."

Thank you. I needed some raptors.

The Movieline Bill Condon on Breaking Dawn link goes to Page 2 of the story. Here's Page 1, for easy linking.

Someone kindly giffed the entire panel reaction to Momoa. (I'm linking to my tumblr because I don't want to go through all 2000 notes to find the original poster.)

This is beautiful. Thank you

You would think that as a veteran of SF cons Jason would know better. Because of his reasonable track record I wish that maybe he's trying to poorly pull a Misha and yank everyone's chains but...no; oh god Jason no.

Is it low of me... that I just had the greatest visual of everyone on Jason Momoa's panel picking him up and throwing him into the Twilight panel, shirtless, with a sign around his neck that says "Free Werewolf Rides?"

I saw that clip all over my tumblr dashboard, the momoa clip but it doesnt stop being any less WTF the 10th time I see it. The panel's reaction is heartening though, appropriate reactions for the horrible statement, momoa just made the rest of the production look bad by association so I wouldn't be surprised if the all gave him a stern talking to after the panel. Peter's reaction is my favorite though, he doesn't even try to hide his disapproval.

Well his character is dead now anyway, so. Also, I'm real impressed at the classiness of his making that remark while sitting next to the woman WHO PLAYED HIS WIFE. You know, the one he raped.

The combination of Robert Pattinson and the phrase Bel Ami is going to really confuse (and disappoint) a portion of the gay male population.

Don't go searching Bel Ami and gay from work, by the way.

Heh. Well, it's a book--Maupassant? Someone. But I can see how a French phrase got picked up to mean something more, uh, specialized.

OH JASON MOMOA NO. But I love the mass facepalming. He'll get reamed out by someone.

I wonder if they're going to make the raptors look like this in JP4...all of the cool dino scientists are saying raptors had goofy-looking feathers now, and not the sleek reptiles from the first three.
