Better late

I have a ton of catching up to do, but I slipped into a research/rewrite/productivity rabbit hole and didn't want to come out for a few days. So, here is several days' worth of linkspam, although I tried to stick to the essentials:

The New Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy Trailer, because I know my readership:

Studio Canal and Working Title have released the new international trailer for director Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, starring Gary Oldman, Ciaran Hinds, Jared Harris, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong and Svetlana Khodchenko. Opening in North American theaters on November 18, the movie is an adaptation of John Le Carre’s seminal cold war best-seller. Set in the aftermath of the cold war, the thriller tells the tale of a spy-hunt within the highest echelons of the British Secret Intelligence Service.

The New Trailer for Roland Emmerich's Anonymous: "Set in the political snake-pit of Elizabethan England, Anonymous speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brilliant minds ranging from Mark Twain and Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud, namely: who was the author of the plays credited to William Shakespeare?" I have no idea how Emmerich'll blow up a landmark in this one. But you know he will.

Two New Hunger Games Images Beat Up Katniss And Peeta; Steven Soderbergh Is Doing Second Unit Shooting On 'Hunger Games':

Considering how ridiculously tight the timeline is on the film—it’s due in theaters in just over seven months—getting Soderbergh to help out is a smart choice. The director is already known to work very, very quickly. How fast? Earlier this year, Matt Damon recounted that during the “Contagion” shoot, Soderbergh would be editing the day’s work into a final cut shape after filming had wrapped each day. “Steven would have his headphones on, sitting at his laptop. And in about 20 minutes he’d cut together the day’s work. ‘OK,’ he’d say, pull his headphones off and turn the computer around and show us, right there, what we’d shot that day and how it would look on the big screen when the movie comes out. THAT FAST. He’s a FREAK,” Damon said.

We have to say, we pretty much didn’t care at all about “The Hunger Games” until now.

Is it wrong that I'm slightly intrigued by "It's a magic show...and CRIME happens!"? I feel like I shouldn't be, but I can't help it.

Sony Pictures Moving Forward with Smurfs 2.

Short Circuit remake now in the hands of Alvin And The Chipmunks director.

Can I be excused now to have a good cry?

That is a really wonderfully appropriate icon.

From now on I'm calling it the "Tinker, Tailer, Soldier trailer." Cause it rhymes.

I have been calling it TINKY TONKY HOKEY POKEY and astonishingly no one has the slightest idea what I'm even on about.

I basically want there to be as many Resident Evil films as there are Law & Order episodes so HOORAY.

And I really like the way you've been organizing the linkspams of late.

on updates old and new....

i got to admit Tinker, Tailer, Soldier movie is beginning to really intrigue me. the cast is the main reason.

well charles dickens.... that's new... to me. and kind of really disappointing and slightly ewwww.
(am i the only one hoping that there are some male famous writers who did not cheat on their gives Other than conan doyle- and even him is questionable....)

not really interesting in "anonymous", good for jamie campbell to keep making it big- but I love shakespeare and i'm stick on believing him to be the author- persistent conspiracy theories be damned.

i did not recognized henry cavill AT ALL in that photo. and i'm pretty good at recognizing actors under their make up/shaved/bearded faces...

YAY TINTIN! SO EXCITED OR THAT MOVIE (the fact that jamie bell voices tintin is a HUGE bonus for me)

the Jane volturi figure is REALLY,REALLY GOOD. (which can't they make the male likeness characters just as good?)

REALLY, REALLY intrigued by "Now you see me" sound like my kind of movie.

also WOW on the hunger games director- talk about perfectionist overachiever...

dont have a problem with the director of the re-make of dirty dancing but.... isn't... a bit early to do a remake? i mean patrick swayze died very recently and that movie is iconic of his...

couldn't they wait a decade at least?

and in old news....

i didn't managed to comment when you mention that movie tidbit of someone wanting to do "ANOTHER nutcraker movie- and the whole "with a twist" is making me nauseatingly nervous

the Other "with a twist" nutcraker movie was an absolute mess (didn't saw it, refused to actually, but i heard...)

leave my favorite childhood story ALONE hollywood. i dont trust your "with a twist" remakes.

i dont know if this is relevant to your readership but....

any mention of pottermore?

i mean the site is not open but it's supposed to open in 1/2 more weeks.

Re: also.... missing link?

Apparently they spent seven days letting people try to get early/beta accounts, and that's done now (I didn't get one). It'll open to everyone in October.

I didn't even know that Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy movie existed, but HOLY SHIT it's like they took every cult British actor and were like "LET'S PUT THEM TOGETHER AND WATCH THE FANGIRLS TEAR THE THEATER APART."

As much as I can't stand the Final Destination movies, that Saved by the Bell parody is pretty awesome. Helps that I'm a big David Koechner fan for some unexplained reason.

About the 30 Minutes or Less -- I can believe that they didn't know. I didn't know until the story showed up on Huff Post. At the time - 2003 - I was focusing on graduating college. They could have been focusing on something else and not paying attention to the news.

However, the family is more than allowed to sue the writers and the movie and anybody they want. If they think it would bring closure to sue about the movie using their tragedy to make money, then they should. Otherwise - why are we coming back to this? Wouldn't the family like to live in a bit of peace now?

ARGH THE HELP I AM SO CONFLICTED ABOUT THAT MOVIE and I know nothing about it and maybe I should go see it but I got burned really, really badly on The Secret Life of Bees this year (they TAUGHT that book to HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMEN in the school I was at, I think mainly because they were desperate for a "girl book" [oh God now I'm twice as upset], and it is so, so problematic), and I am feeling so, so skeptical about the movie. I'm glad to know Davis felt good about making it.

If this helps make you no longer be conflicted?

Peeta's not blonde enough. I'm regretting reading the Hunger Games back in June. I should have waited for the movie to come out.

as a devout Oxford-as-Shakespeare believer - OMG ANONYMOUS

+ elizabethan costume porn! what more could this girl want?!?!?! ::dies::

As someone who's studied Shakespeare with professors from all different countries who were specialists in the field, the idea of unleashing the Oxfordian theory onto the ignorant masses makes me want to chew my own hand. It's like The DaVinci Code for Elizabethan drama. Le sigh. Team Stratford.

There is also a Harry Potter according to Argus Filch.

3. Argus Filch and the STUDENTS OUT OF BED.
5. Argus Filch and Finally, Some Power!!
6. Argus Filch and the STUDENTS OUT OF BED.
7. Argus Filch and the McGonagall Called Me a Blithering Idiot…

oh how I ADORED that moment (even if i felt slightly bad for filch)

McGongall sass was ALL over the movie and she hasn't gotten enough fierce sassyness in previous movies so that made me SO VERY ECTASTICALLY HAPPY!

that being said- the filch list is hysterical...

For a moment there I thought it was going to be Kevin Costner as Jor-El and I thought "What? Was Victor Garber busy?" But, nope, it's Costner as Pa Kent. Of course.
